Red Wings Speak for Spring
Red Wings Speak for Spring
2024
12" x 15"
Limited edition of 56
This piece is a moment pieced from a couple of walks taken in the bright season of spring in Northern California. I see the poppies blooming, oaks and vines just leafing out, and the grassy hills still mostly green. Then the red wing blackbirds singing and displaying their bright patches just highlight all the changes in the season.
Our California landscapes and my love of birds were the inspirations for this piece. To help the birds that inspire some of my works, I will be donating $5 from each print sale of this edition to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology which has greatly helped me with my education and enjoyment of birds. You can read more about how they helped foster my passion for birding, and some of their programs on my blog HERE.
The piece is composed of 12 separate layers of silk screening with acrylic screen inks on archival paper. Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom, sold unframed, and presented with finished edges. This piece can be matted to fit nicely in a 14” x 18” standard size frame.
